Everything in me wanted to love this bottle. It is called Monkey Shoulder, which is apparently a reference to the men who used to throw the barrels. The bottle is great, with inlaid monkeys on it. The color looks right for something I would like--a light honey color. The nose is sweet and nice. Unfortunately, the taste is a little sharp and a bit painful. Alcohol drowns out a lot of the other flavors that I sense are back there somewhere. The flavors that hung around weren't the ones I would have preferred and a bitter aftertaste sneaks up at the end. A bitter disappointment for me as I'd love to offer any monkey-related drink to guests.
